A Note from the President
We are so excited that construction has begun on Wheelock's Campus Center and Student Residence (CCSR), the first new building on our campus in nearly 40 years.
The first floor plans for the CCSR include a campus store, coffee bar, student organization offices, student study space and a multi-purpose room to be used for many functions on campus. A new cafeteria, allowing us to provide more flexibility and choice in our on-campus dining program, will call the second floor home.
Above these first two floors will be the first rooms built intentionally as on-campus student housing in Wheelock's history. They will include new living options, including suite-style housing complete with a living room and private bath.
This new building will be a certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) "green" building. We are thrilled to start construction on this new building that will support and provide much needed space for our growing programs and enrollment at Wheelock College.
The real excitement behind the CCSR is that the College will soon have a state-of-the-art facility for our students, a space designed to fit the needs of a 21st century student.
There are so many people and organizations that have made this accomplishment possible, but I would like to especially thank the donors, Wheelock's Board of Trustees, the Planning Taskforce, and the Trustee Facilities Committee. We also need to thank the chairs of the planning committee, Marjorie Hall and Roy Schifilliti, for their efforts. And finally a thank you to the Wheelock community for their part in making this building a reality for the College.
I hope that you will check back here often, and watch the progress of the CCSR as Wheelock continues to take root and grow strong.
Sincerely,
Jackie Jenkins-Scott, President
